1. Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon
If you’re visiting Florida with your family, you can’t go wrong with Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon. Located near the Magic Kingdom, this water park is packed with exciting attractions for all ages. My family and I spent an entire day there, and it felt like a mini vacation within our vacation! The park has a tropical island theme and is filled with beautiful landscaping that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a paradise.
One of the highlights of Typhoon Lagoon is the massive wave pool. It creates waves so big, they mimic the ocean’s natural surf, and there’s a designated area for smaller waves, making it suitable for kids. The park also boasts water slides like “Crush ‘n’ Gusher,” a thrilling water coaster that’s fun for all ages. What I loved the most was the lazy river, where you can simply float around and relax under the Florida sun. It’s perfect for a family, as it lets you spend time together while taking a break from the excitement of the rides.

2. Aquatica Orlando
Another amazing water park to check out is Aquatica Orlando, which is perfect for those who enjoy a blend of adventure and relaxation. Located just minutes away from SeaWorld Orlando, this park features some truly unique attractions. During our visit, my family and I were captivated by the “Dolphin Plunge,” a water slide that takes you through a clear tube surrounded by a pod of playful dolphins! Watching them swim alongside us while zooming down the slide was such a surreal experience.
Aquatica also has the “Whanau Way,” a family raft ride that’s ideal for larger groups. We hopped on the raft together, and it was a fun bonding experience as we splashed and laughed our way down the slides. The park also features the “Riverside” lazy river, which is perfect for taking a leisurely float, making it a great spot for families with young children or those looking to unwind between more thrilling activities.
3. LEGOLAND Water Park
If you’re visiting the LEGOLAND theme park in Winter Haven, don’t miss out on the LEGOLAND Water Park. This one is particularly well-suited for younger children, and it has a unique feature that sets it apart from other parks—interactive water play areas that involve building with LEGOs! My kids were in heaven as they designed their own water structures before watching them come to life in the water.
The park has a fun selection of slides, such as the “Twin Chasers,” where you race side by side with a friend or family member. But the best part? The “Build-A-Raft River,” where you can actually build your own raft using soft LEGO bricks before floating down a gentle river. The park is smaller compared to others, but it’s perfect for families with young kids who want a more relaxed, hands-on experience.
4. Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando Resort
Volcano Bay is another gem in Orlando that should not be missed. Universal Orlando’s water park is a stunning, immersive experience that combines thrilling water attractions with relaxing amenities. The park’s centerpiece is the massive, erupting volcano called Krakatau, which towers over the entire park. This volcano is the home of several adrenaline-pumping water slides, including “Ko’okiri Body Plunge,” a slide that drops you straight down through a trap door at 70 degrees—a must-try for thrill-seekers!
But Volcano Bay is not just about heart-racing slides. It also offers serene spots like the “Waturi Beach,” where you can soak up the sun and take a dip in the large wave pool. What’s unique about this park is its use of technology—each guest receives a TapuTapu wearable device that helps you reserve your place in line for rides, so you can enjoy the park without waiting for long. As a parent, this convenience was a game-changer, allowing us to focus more on family fun and less on logistics.
5. Blizzard Beach at Walt Disney World
Blizzard Beach, also at Walt Disney World, offers a fun, winter-themed escape right in the heart of Florida. This water park is known for its unique concept—imagine a snowy ski resort, complete with frozen mountain slides, but with a tropical twist. The park has a variety of slides suitable for different ages and thrill levels, but one of the most memorable experiences was the “Summit Plummet,” one of the tallest and fastest free-fall water slides in the world!
For those who prefer a gentler experience, the “Cross Country Creek” lazy river is a relaxing way to float around the park. The park also offers special areas for kids, like the “Tike’s Peak,” where younger children can play in shallow waters. Blizzard Beach’s combination of thrills and chill spots makes it a great choice for families with kids of all ages.
6. Calypso Cove Waterpark
Located in Kissimmee, Calypso Cove Waterpark is a hidden gem that provides an exciting experience for families. It’s not as large as the others on this list, but its affordability and variety of attractions make it a wonderful choice for families looking for a more laid-back experience. The park offers water slides, splash pads, and a lazy river. We spent hours sliding down the water slides, enjoying the cool water, and lounging by the poolside.
The park also has a well-maintained kiddie area, which made it ideal for my younger children. It’s a perfect spot for families who want to enjoy the water park experience without the large crowds of some of the more famous parks.
7. Rapids Water Park in West Palm Beach
If you’re looking for a more relaxed water park experience with a wide variety of water attractions, Rapids Water Park in West Palm Beach is a great choice. My family had a blast here, especially on the park’s numerous water slides, including the “Big Thunder,” which is perfect for families with older kids who enjoy fast-paced slides.
One of the highlights of this park is the “Thunder River,” a fast-flowing lazy river ride that provides a fun way to unwind. There are also numerous splash zones and kiddie pools, making it an excellent destination for families with young children. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or just want to relax by the water, Rapids Water Park has something for everyone!
Florida offers an abundance of water parks, each with its own unique offerings for families. Whether you’re seeking thrilling water slides, relaxing lazy rivers, or interactive play areas, these parks provide something for every member of your family to enjoy. From the grandeur of Typhoon Lagoon to the laid-back charm of Calypso Cove, there’s a water park in Florida that’s perfect for your next family vacation.
